QRS Player Piano Systems
read moreQRS was founded in 1900 by Melville Clark (of Story & Clark piano fame) who developed the player piano as we know it today. QRS supplied music rolls to the player piano market, with production peaking in 1927, when QRS Music Company sold 10 million rolls. The player piano's heyday lasted from 1900 until the Great Depression in the 1930s. The poverty of the Great Depression, along with the development of affordable radios (which started becoming commonplace around 1927) effectively ended player piano production.
Customer Reviews
read moreThank you for the beautiful work you did on my piano. It would be easy to list 100 different ways in which it has helped me and my students in our musical pursuits. It is a beautiful miracle. I want to express how much I have enjoyed dealing with you and your staff in the rebuilding process of my beautiful Steinway. From beginning to end, you have made the entire process a pleasure. The time had come to either replace my 100-year-old Mason-Hamlin BB, or rebuild it. I tried hundreds of new and used pianos, and visited at least a dozen rebuilders.
Piano Care
read moreWe recommend tuning new and newly restored pianos 3-4 times the first year to maintain a standard pitch of A-440 and to establish pitch stability. After that, most pianos should be tuned twice a year. Using the piano for performance most often requires the piano to be tuned prior to each performance. Changes in humidity effect pitch stabilization and intonation of the instrument. Adverse degrees of humidity change should be avoided. A normal relative humidity level of 42 percent has been established for both humans and pianos.
