Estate Planning
read moreIf you do not have a documented answer for these three questions, you need an estate planning attorney. If you do have an estate plan, has it been updated recently? There are many reasons to update your estate plan. Your situation and wishes may change over time, requiring changes to these documents. Tax laws are also constantly changing and may require adjustments in order to take full advantage of them. And you should always revisit your plan after going through a big life change, such as a divorce or a new business venture.
Business Bankruptcy
read moreBusinesses, like individuals, can face insurmountable debts and declare bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is not always the best solution for financial troubles. While it can provide a new beginning, it can also harm a business' credit rating. Chapter 7 bankruptcy requires the business to be liquidated with the proceeds from the asset sales used to pay secured creditors and the balance of the proceeds being used to pay unsecured creditors. It is wise to work with an experienced bankruptcy attorney who can determine what your best options may be.
