In 1951, a group of investors led by Robert M. Knapke purchased the business. At this time a switch was made from concentrating on manufacturing to distribution of salon product to the salon base. During this time the firm represented such firms as Realistic, Roux, Rilling, Turner Hall, and Clairol. , during his reign he started the process of buying out other investors. Robert M. Knapke led the firm until he retired in 1975 turning the reins over to his son, Robert J. Knapke.
