Shodair started as a home for orphaned and abandoned kids in 1896. As Shodair evolved to understand the requirements of Montana's kids, it became the 1st facility in the state to treat kids with polio, the 1st facility with a department of medical genetics, and the 1st with a chemical dependency unit committed to adolescents.
