Shooting Star Dance Center was established in 1978 by owner/manager Carol-Ann Boardway Chapin. Miss Carol has been dancing for nearly forty years. She developed her life-long passion for teaching the art of dance at a very young age. Miss Carol received her Masters in Ballet and Theatrical Arts from the Dance Educator's of America Teacher Training School in 1982 and continues to train and learn consistently. At Shooting Star Dance Center, Miss Carol along with her team, realizes that every student starts to dance for a huge range of reasons.

read moreRobert Blakley has been dancing since the age of ten under the direction of Tracey Thomas. Robert has been a great addition to our hip hop program. He is also versatile in many different styles and genres of dance including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Contemporary. Robert is currently signed to MSA (McDonald Selznick Associates) Talent Agency out of New York and LA. We love Robert's energy and enthusiasm. Born and raised in West Springfield, MA, David Bovat has built a profession out of his natural ability to dance and to teach others.

read moreIf I were to ask one hundred dancers, teachers, and parents what competition means to them, I am certain I would get a large variety of answers. Some only think of the award, some would just love the feeling they receive from being on a stage and doing what they love to do. DANCE. Others might say they love seeing new things, meeting new people, and the excitement. What I love about competition is the satisfaction I get from watching our dancers light up the stage, knowing that each dancer has worked hard despite the craziness of everyday life.
Birthday Parties
read moreAll of our dance parties include the studio rental, tables, chairs, tablecloth, balloons, cheese pizza, and juice. An instructor will lead the children through an hour of dance, activities, games, and/or a craft project. We handle the set-up and clean-up, allowing the parents to enjoy the party and capture those moments! We also offer tea parties. These include the studio rental, tables, chairs, linens, china, tea sandwiches, flavored tea/juice, and a craft and dress-up time.
Tuition
read moreFollowing the Massachusetts and CDC guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing, our in studio classes will have limited availability. There will be a maximum of 10 dancers in our larger studio and 6 dancers in our smaller studio. There will be one instructor in each classroom and an SSDC administrator who will be responsible for screening the dancers before entry, and ensuring your dancer gets to their designated socially distant spot. At this time only dancers will be allowed into the studio.
Class Styles
read moreWe offer several classes of different styles for all levels. Whether you are stepping into a dance studio for the first time, or are ready to advance your skill, we have many forms to choose from. Terrific 2's & 3's - A 35-minute class (must be 2 years old by the start of the session). A fun intro to movement, motor skill development, and creative expression. Intro to dance incorporating basic rhythms, movement, patterns, and creativity while learning to follow a teacher's directions and engaging in a social situation with other 3 year olds.
