I began my professional career as a newspaper photojournalist in Southern California, working for a biweekly newspaper. It couldn't have been better timing as the San Diego Padres made the World Series and I photographed some of the home games from field level. In 1985 I started working as a team photographer for the San Diego Union Tribune. I covered a huge array of news and sports assignments and found a specialty in food and fashion photography while working for the newspaper's feature section.
