The firm was began in 1914 by his grandfather, Henry Wainer, on the historic cobblestone streets of New Bedford, MA. His grandfather was known for sourcing products from the South Coast of New England and distributing them to the restaurants and stores in his region. Those were the days of horse and buggy. Henry Wainer grew up working by his father's (Sid Wainer) side as the 3rd generation of Wainers in the produce industry in New England. Henry's father was the greatest influence in Henry's life, both individual and professional.
