St Charles Guest House

Guest House in New Orleans, LA
Guest House in New Orleans, LA The St. Charles Guest House is up and running! Our buildings received some roof and ceiling damage, but no flooding, as the Garden District, along with the French Quarter, is located in the HIGHEST part of the city, and repairs are complete. We truly feel blessed. We're cheerful to be providing the travelling public the same simple, cozy and affordable lodging alternative we've given them for the past 26+ years. We've been so fortunate to host many volunteer groups who've come to New Orleans to assist in our recovery.

St Charles Guest House
read moreThe St. Charles Guest house welcomes you to New Orleans and the historic Garden District where you'll find some of the most significant architecture in Louisiana. We are on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, and a very short walk, or ride, to the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, the World War II Museum and Southern Art Museums, Art District, Convention Center, River Walk, Emeril's. New Orleans history, art and architecture, from 1805 onward, come alive in our Garden District neighborhood. Antique shopping abounds three blocks away on world famous Magazine Street, the "Street of Dreams", home to both New Orleans' elegance and decadence.
New Orleans Bed and Breakfast
read moreWe have many types of rooms, ranging from rooms with double beds that share a public bathroom, to multi-bed rooms that have a private bath. Our general rates range from $55 a night to $95 a night depending on the room, but prices will increase during holidays and festivals. Our guests have use of our secluded pool and patio areas, which can be used for reading, writing, planning, or resting. When we've hosted wedding parties, they have used the area as an impromptu pre or post party site! Enjoy a pastry continental breakfast in the morning in our breakfast room, or even take it outside to enjoy by the pool!
A Night at the Orpheum Theater
read moreThe Orpheum is conveniently located in the Central Business District, so it would be very easy to make an entire evening out of it. If you come to town and decide to go see something at the Orpheum, be sure to make reservations either before or after at Domenica - one of my favorite italian restaurants in the city.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
read moreWe hope to complete our capital improvements. Much like any aging diva, we decided it was high time for a face-lift. Since the summer, we've been tirelessly working at giving the place a fresh look, while trying to preserve our old school charm. In the coming year we hope to complete the updates, and we have plans to add some new special features (such as a work space to give struggling writers some inspiration, and newly decorated Cajun cabins by the pool). Mardi Gras comes early this year! Rooms are booking up fast, as Mardi Gras day falls on February 9, 2016.
Our Picks for November
read moreOh, who are we kidding. It might be November in New Orleans, but there are days when it still feels like June. However, the start of November and the unofficial beginning of the holiday season ushers in some great events. Our picks for the month are below. Tickets are still available to the hottest culinary festival of the year. BBB brings together chefs from around the country, including acclaimed chefs such as Emeril Lagassee, Mario Batalli, and Donald Link. The ticket price includes unlimited food and drinks, music, and goes to support some of Emeril's philanthropic organizations.
A Day in the Bywater
read moreThis past weekend gave us the first glimpses of beautiful Spring Weather here in New Orleans. My friends and I had made plans to get lunch somewhere with an outdoor seating area, and I suggested we venture outside of the Garden District and check out the Press Street Station in the Bywater. The restaurant is a new venture for the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts -- a high school which hails graduates such as all the Marsalis brothers, Harry Connick Jr., Wendell Pierce, Anthony Mackie and (my personal favorite) Trombone Shorty.
Garden District Neighborhood
read moreJust a few blocks from the guest house is the world famous Commander's Palace. If the dinner prices make your eyebrows raise, Commander's has a great economical weekday lunch, where you can sip on $.25 Martinis. Speaking of bargains, for oysters, the Blind Pelican, located right around the corner from the Guest House has oysters on the half shell for $3 a dozen during Happy Hour. Click the photo above for more options! The National World War II Musueum, Civil War Museum, Ogden Musueum of Southern, and Contemporary Arts Center are located only a half mile from the Guest House.
Bacon Donuts
read moreOther donut selections included vietnamese iced coffee, nutella, PB&J and a host of others. They also offer a full selection of sliders, and various biscuit breakfasts, for those looking for lunch or savory options. A great way to start a morning walk down Magazine Street.
