Volunteer Requirements
read moreAll fingerprinting must be completed and sent directly from the fingerprinting agency to the Parish office. You may not hand deliver or mail this on your own. Every volunteer in a program or ministry for children and youth, and any volunteer for other parish programs or ministries who is delegated the care, custody, or control of children and youth is required to complete a criminal background check and participate in a PGC training session. This includes volunteers for Parish School of Religion, youth ministry, Vacation Bible School, Children's Liturgy of the Word, ushers, pre-school and nursery volunteers, parish volunteers staffing activities for children/youth, field-trip chaperones and drivers, scout leaders, coaches and other recreation volunteers, choir director if choir includes children or youth, service coordinators if service programs include children or youth, all parish councils (including finance) and committee members; all parish paid staff and clergy; all ministry, group and activity volunteers who have any level of contact with children or children's programs and activities.
Religious Education
read moreThe St. Dominic Parish School of Religion (PSR) provides religious education for youth in grades one through eight. Classes are held in the Parish Center on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon, September through May. PSR also offers Sacramental Preparation classes for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. Specific class schedules and times for the sacrament programs will be announced during the PSR school year. Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion are offered for youth in second through eighth grades.
Order of the Mass
read moreENTRANCE SONG: A song to praise God and bring the community together. GREETING: After the Entrance song all make the sign of the cross as a reminder of our Baptism and belief in the Trinity. PENITENTIAL RITE: The priest invites the people to recall their sins and to repent of them in silence. We use the invocation of "Lord, have mercy" and "Christ, have mercy" in triplicate form. GLORIA: Joyful prayer that praises our Trinitarian God. The prayer is either sung or recited. OPENING PRAYER: The priest and people pray silently for a while.
