For the past three decades, the Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport has trained and presented talented and innovative African-American actors, dancers, musicians, and vocalists, to the Shreveport and Bossier communities. The non-profit, tax-exempt corporation was organized to fill an artistic void and throughout the years has shown the rich traditions of African-American culture and the accomplishments that African-Americans have made to the city, state, and the world.

In compliance with Governor John Bel Edwards' mandate on March 16th, Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport is immediately canceling all Yazzy Youth Celebrating Jazz programs until further notice. Hopefully, our 18th annual Yazzy Youth Celebrating Jazz Concert scheduled for Friday, April 24, 7:00 pm, at The Riverview Theatre will be postponed until the summer.
