In 1946, Lieutenant General Barton Kyle Yount, the Commanding General of the U. S. Army Air Training Command, dreamed about creating a business school that focused on international management. After World War II, General Yount saw a growing demand for international executive talent. On April 8, 1946, his dream was realized when the School received its charter and he became its 1st president. The School was established as a nonprofit organization known as the American Institute for Foreign Trade.
