Churches in Fort Wayne, IN
Churches in Fort Wayne, IN Established in 1846, Trinity English Evangelical Lutheran Church became the 1st English-speaking Lutheran church in northeastern Indiana. It was an offshoot of Ft. Wayne's St. Paul's Lutheran Church, which at the time was a German-speaking congregation. One of the principal founders and charter members of both congregations was Henry Rudisill, who along with his father-in-law founded and owned a successful lumber mill in Ft. Wayne. Primarily out of a desire to have an English-speaking Lutheran church, Trinity English came into being as the English Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity.

About Us
read moreWe have begun a spoken Morning Prayer service, in person, at 8 AM Sundays. We expect all participants to wear face coverings, to practice social distancing with those outside of your household, and to be mindful of other safe practices as defined by public health officials. We do not sing or use hymnals, share the peace with one another, pass an offering plate, or receive communion at this service. We also ask attendees to sign in, in case the need arises for contact tracing.
Our Beliefs
read moreWe ascribe to the three traditional Creeds of the church; the Apostles', the Nicene and the Athanasian Creeds, all ancient "symbols" or summaries of Christian faith. We believe that the Ten Commandments forms a basis for how we try to live with other people and the Lord's Prayer points us to how to live in the world. The Bible in both parts tells us about God's relationship with humanity and an awful lot about what it means to be a human. We practice the Sacraments Jesus taught us, namely Baptism - where we become part of God's family and part of the church universal.
Weddings
read moreCongratulations to you on your upcoming marriage. We believe that marriage is a gift of God that is a blessing to both the couple beginning their new family and a gift for the whole human family. The lives of a couple are a sign of God's gracious work in the world. As a couple learns to support each other, forgive each other and love each other they become together a reflection of God's hope for how people can be in the world. At Trinity English, we hope to support and walk with you as you prepare for your wedding day and be present with you in your life together after your wedding.
Baptisms
read moreWhether by birth or by adoption, one of the most exciting events in our lives is a child entering the family. Whether it is your first or last child or one in-between, as Christians we look upon the gift of life as coming from God. It is a wonderful gift! As a parent, you have the unique privilege of accompanying your child on a lifelong journey of faith. One of the first things parents need to decide is when to baptize their child. Lutherans baptize infants because of our understanding of baptism as a gift of grace from God, not something we earn or choose.
