The majority of our therapists are licensed as professional counselors and marriage and family therapists. We also have two psychologists, a psychological associate, and a chemical dependency counselor. Turning Point Counseling desires to help our clients turn down a path that leads to relief of symptoms and improved moods and greater functioning that can lead to greater peace and happiness.

read morePatrick's journey into counseling came out of his experience of working with families in church ministry. For more than 20 years he has been supporting and encouraging families in finding solutions and becoming stronger, healthier people. His goal with all clients is that each one would feel respected, understood, and valued, as God created all people to feel. Patrick works with the entire family, with couples, and individuals to address the issues that people have in life. He has a special interest in helping parents with children who have ADHD, high functioning Autism (Asperger's Syndrome) and mood disturbances.

This speaks to accepting and honoring each other as vital and valuable human beings who have chosen to spend their lives together. Once acceptance and the celebration of each other is rooted in a marriage, the difficulties and disappointments in life can be met with strength and growth. Each therapist at TPC may have specialized training or skills in the discipline of couples therapy and counseling, and it may be useful to look at some of the blog posts to get a sense of the particular orientation of each therapist.

read moreWe are located at the intersection of Chestnut and South 5th and 6th. Our office is on the 10th floor of the tallest building in Abilene known as the Enterprise Building or the Bank of America. The building is in south central downtown and near the Taylor County Courthouse. Our office location is suite #1001 which can easily be found after entering the elevator and moving to the 10th floor. When departing the elevator, the office waiting room door can immediately be seen on the left. New clients must contact the office of Turning Point and talk with a member of the office staff.

read moreOur independent practitioners work to provide a safe environment for children and their caregivers to discuss the issues which are causing problems in the lives of children. In child therapy, they work to build trust with children through play and seek to address the issues during these times. The work of counseling is to address the needs of the child as well as the family and offer solutions regarding stress/anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, as well as other issues. The therapist cannot treat a child of divorce or separation without a copy of divorce or custody paperwork for children of living in single parent for blended families.
