Vas Design

We start our design process with your specific fireplace measurements, and will work with you to build a mantel design of your preference. Before we start building the mantel, we create a technical drawing to scale to show our clients the details, proportions, and overall look of the mantel. We use only the highest kiln-dried hardwood materials. Mahogany, cherry, maple, and oak are most commonly used. Painted models are built out of solid birch and poplar. Several of the models have a plywood body, but we don't use M. D. F. We do spray furniture finishes and hand-rubbed oil finishes on our mantels. Spray finishes are done with two coats of sealer and two coats of furniture lacquer. Hand-rubbed finishes are done the old-fashioned way of finishing wood without changing the natural look of the wood. Any custom stains can be matched.
