Library in Visalia, CA Straddling California's eastern San Joaquin Valley and the western ranges of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Tulare County Library serves all the citizens of Tulare County. The Library is run by Tulare County and has branch libraries in fifteen communities. The Tulare County Library is a member of the San Joaquin Valley Library System, a cooperative network of ten public library jurisdictions in seven counties of California's central valley. The Tulare County Library is a member of the Heartland Regional Library Network of the Library of California.

Sequoia National Park and the Mineral King, Golden Trout and Domeland Wilderness areas lie within the County's boundaries. Tulare County offers an active lifestyle with recreational and cultural activities including theater, music, and sports. Established in 1910 by the Board of Supervisors, the Tulare County Library provides library services to all citizens through 17 branch libraries, 4 book machines, and an online presence.
Computer Services
read moreThe Visalia Library has a Computer Lab with print services, photo copying and faxing out services. Other Tulare County Library branches have various amounts of computers, copy machines, fax machines, and other printing services (black & white printing at all branches, color printing at select branches). Contact your local Tulare County Library for more information! Library Staff can provide basic assistance as needed. However, staff cannot provide in depth individual instruction, or spend more than a few minutes with any one patron.
Literacy Center
read moreInstruction focuses on basic functional skills needed to job readiness and social competency. Practice conversational skills in a relaxed atmosphere with other English Language Learners. Sessions held weekly online. This program focuses on five critical learning skills children need to learn to read and prepare for school. Free training is given to parents, caregivers and groups. Ask your child care provider to call to schedule a training. ELF is an exciting free book club for parents and children, ages 0-5.
Volunteer Opportunites
read moreTeens who participate in the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) can earn community service hours and volunteer experience. Volunteers wanted to select and deliver books to homebound residents at assisted living homes in Visalia. Must be at least 18 years and be able to provide your own transportation.

Zip Books
read moreZip Books tests a "buy vs. borrow" methodology in which the library purchases an item not previously owned by the Tulare County Library or any other library in the San Joaquin Valley Library System and send it directly to the patron's home. Used in conjunction with the standard ILL program, this program hopes to duplicate the cost savings of other participating libraries. Request a Zip Book at any Tulare County Library location with your library card. Books not owned by the Tulare County Library or any library in the San Joaquin Valley Library System - and are over a year old - may be requested.
