read moreWestwood Driving School has been teaching students on Stick Shift (Manual Transmission) for over 30 years. Lessons on stick shift are offered 7 days a week. The lessons are scheduled with the pickup and drop off at our Westwood location. We are located in the heart of Westwood Village. Payment for the stick shift lessons is cash only. Within these lessons the student will be taught to master all aspects of stick shift driving. We teach students stick shift that already possess a valid California permit or license.

These driving courses are set in an atmosphere that is informative, creative and friendly. These courses provide the student with essential information concerning knowledge of the laws and the system. Sound educational principles shall be employed which include one-on-one instruction requiring student involvement in a variety of ways. A text book and 20 films are utilized, and each is concluded with discussion, observation, demonstration and review.

The entire Westwood Driving School staff is all about safe driving and helping students understand the rules of the road. We conveniently pick-up and drop-off students from any location within our service area 7 days-a-week from 7am to 8pm.

read moreAll cancellations must be at least 24 hours before the lesson start. Cancellations can be made either through student portal or by calling our office. A $50 Late Cancellation fee will be charged for all cancellation less then 24 hours notice. At certain times of the year(Summer and Holidays), our schedule will fill two months in advance - be sure to call well in advance of your desired lesson and don't wait until the last minute to schedule.

read moreYour parents can 'cancel' your license at any time, because they are legally responsible for you until your 18th birthday. It can be restricted at two points, or suspended at three points. As of July 1st 2008, you are not allowed to use a cell phone whilst driving. This is not the same law that applies to your parents - they must simply use a hands-free device when using a cell phone. Truly though, no one should talk on a cell phone while driving! Passengers under 40 lbs or the age of two must be in a child safety seat, in the BACK seat, facing backwards.

read moreYou can start anytime, though you WILL have to wait until you are15 before you may obtain your permit from the DMV. Just follow the steps below! If you are 17 1/2, present your birth certificate, Social Security number, and pass the permit test*. If you are 15 1/2, present a Driver's Education Completion Certificate*, original birth certificate (this has purple ink or the state seal embossed on it - NO COPIES!), Social Security number (though if you have your card, it is our experience that it is best to have it with you), and pass the permit test*.

read moreFirst twelve months: No driving with other teens (under age of 20) and no driving between the hours of 11PM and 5AM, unless accompanied by a licensed driver over 25 years of age. For transporting immediate family members ONLY if vehicle use is for medical, family, school or employment. Cancellation: Parents (or legal guardians) have the right to cancel the license at any time during the provisional license. Yep - any reason. You must be nice to Mom and Dad! Truancy: Students will receive a fine ($150-500 per offense), administered through the traffic courts, if convicted of truancy and/or loitering (unexcused absences); on third conviction, provisional license is suspended for one year.
