WCPS follows a standard 9 month school calendar. We start the school year in late August and end the school year the 2nd or 3rd week in May. The school year is approximately 38 weeks long. We currently have a 2 week Christmas/New Year break and a week of Spring Break. We observe the major holidays that occur during the nine month school year. One Parent Conference Day is scheduled for each semester. The kids do not attend on those days. We devote an additional 2 or 3 days off from school for team training.

We believe children should be treated with respect and balance their freedom with responsibilities. This is accomplished by setting limits, providing choices within those limits and using natural and logical consequences as the basis for discipline. Positive reinforcement and redirection allow our teachers to guide children as they make behavioral choices.
