UMC is more than just emergency and surgical care. Our qualified doctors, medical professionals make sure that you and our community receive quality primary and preventive care — annual checkups and physicals, wellness exams, sports physicals, and more. You can also get specialized care for high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease and other health issues that affect your life.
To keep our momentum intact, I will reiterate below the information shared in this month’s Management Council Meeting. The frequently used pronoun “we” is deliberate to emphasize a team approach.
Our community of patients, our fellow colleagues, Fiscal Control Board, DC Mayor, DC Health, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, The Joint Commission and other accrediting bodies rely on us to care for patients while maintaining the highest standards. Despite our size and unique history, remember we are located in the nation’s capital, in one of the strongest countries around the globe; we must perform at a high level, we must have pride in all we do, we must be successful.
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” —Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé)
Humbly and Respectfully,
Jacqueline Jacquie Payne-Borden,
Interim CEO/CNO
