Alabama's Premier Cattle Industry Organization
Founded in 1944, the Mooseum has served as the unified voice for Alabama's cattle industry for over eight decades. Our organization was established through the reorganization of the Alabama Livestock Growers Association, with a mission to protect and promote the interests of cattlemen across the state. Through a robust network of 67 county chapters and volunteer leaders, we provide advocacy, educational resources, and community engagement opportunities that strengthen the beef industry. Our structure ensures local impact with statewide coordination, retaining one-third of membership dues at the county level for community initiatives while allocating the remainder to state-level programs and the BEEF Political Action Committee. As Alabama's qualified State Beef Council, we oversee the Beef Checkoff Program's implementation, directing funds toward research, marketing, and educational initiatives that benefit producers and consumers alike. With a peak membership of 18,620 in 1974, we maintain the largest cattlemen's association network in the nation, combining historical expertise with contemporary industry challenges. Our leadership development programs, including youth livestock events and collegiate scholarship opportunities, ensure the continued growth of future industry leaders. Through partnerships with the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, we deliver science-based information and policy advocacy that shapes the future of beef production. Our commitment to transparency and member-driven governance has sustained our organization through generations of agricultural change, maintaining relevance in modern farming practices while honoring traditional values. As stewards of Alabama's cattle heritage, we continue to adapt our programs to meet evolving industry needs while preserving the legacy established by our founding members.
