Empowering Families of Children with Disabilities
Task San Diego Team-Advocates is dedicated to educating and empowering individuals with disabilities and their families across Southern California. Since our founding, we have specialized in special education support for individuals from birth to age 26, offering guidance on IEPs, 504 Plans, assessments, and transition services. Our team provides emotional support, information, and referrals to help families navigate special education systems and collaborate effectively with schools. We offer workshops, assistive technology consultations, and resources tailored to diverse disabilities, including mental health challenges and chronic conditions. As the Parent Training and Information Center for six Southern California counties, we are federally funded to ensure families receive expert guidance.

Our services include telephone support, document reviews, youth programs, and assistive technology labs. Headquartered in Brea, we operate additional offices in Alhambra, Riverside, and San Diego to better serve Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. We prioritize accessibility through Zoom, in-person, and telephone options, ensuring families receive timely, location-flexible support. Our TECH Center curates comprehensive online resources for parents and professionals, while our workshops cover topics from early intervention to adult transition planning. By connecting families with critical services and fostering cooperation between homes and schools, we strive to help children with disabilities achieve long-term success.

IEP Consultations
Our IEP consultations help families understand special education processes and develop effective individualized education plans. We review documents, explain parental rights, and provide strategies for successful IEP meetings. Our experts guide families through assessment requests and transition planning while maintaining strict neutrality as we do not attend meetings on parents' behalf.
Assistive Technology Support
We provide comprehensive assistive technology assessments and consultations for all age groups. Our services include device recommendations, application guidance, and training on using technology for communication and learning. We cover low-tech to high-tech solutions and help families navigate funding options for necessary equipment and software.
Workshops
Task San Diego Team-Advocates offers specialized workshops covering special education laws, transition planning, and assistive technology. Our programs address topics from early intervention to adult employment readiness, with both in-person and virtual options available. Sessions include practical tools for navigating school systems and implementing effective communication strategies.
Support Groups
We facilitate support networks connecting families facing similar challenges with disabilities. These groups provide emotional support, shared experiences, and practical advice for navigating education systems. Participants gain access to expert-led discussions and community resources tailored to their specific needs.
Transition Planning
Our transition services help youth with disabilities prepare for postsecondary education and employment. We provide job readiness training, self-advocacy skill development, and guidance on navigating adult service systems. Our programs focus on building independence and connecting families with appropriate vocational resources.
