Healthcare Education & Community Health Partnerships
Southwest Idaho AHEC has been dedicated to advancing healthcare education and community health since 1987. As a program of Jannus, Inc., we bridge the gap between academic institutions and communities through innovative health career exploration programs for students, accredited continuing education for professionals, and targeted outreach initiatives. Our mission focuses on addressing healthcare workforce shortages and improving access to care in rural and underserved areas across ten southwestern Idaho counties. We collaborate with educational institutions, state agencies, and national healthcare organizations to deliver impactful programs like Health Careers Camp, Doctor for a Day, and the Idaho AHEC Scholars Program. Our team-based interprofessional learning model fosters collaboration among healthcare disciplines, preparing future professionals to address complex health challenges.

With federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration and support from local partners like the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, we maintain a strong commitment to measurable outcomes and community-driven solutions. Our continuing education series, accredited by multiple national organizations, provides free, high-quality professional development to healthcare teams. We prioritize cultural competency, social determinants of health, and telehealth innovations to meet evolving healthcare needs. Our 35-year legacy reflects a steadfast dedication to enhancing healthcare equity and workforce development. Through strategic partnerships and evidence-based programming, we continue to shape Idaho's healthcare landscape for future generations.
