Young Actors Theatre: Nurturing Talent in Tallahassee
Founded in 1975 by Tina Williams, Young Actors Theatre has been a cornerstone of performing arts education in Tallahassee, Florida. Our mission is to nurture creativity, resilience, and confidence in young people through comprehensive training in acting, singing, and dancing. Over five decades, we have empowered over 800 children annually, ages 3 to 18, with personalized instruction from experienced professionals. Our alumni have achieved remarkable success on Broadway, in Emmy-winning television roles, and in leadership positions across diverse industries. As one of the nations few independent childrens programs with an on-site theater, we produce professional-caliber productions that engage 10,000+ audience members yearly.

We emphasize small class sizes and holistic development, ensuring students gain life skills like public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking. Our community-driven approach has fostered generations of artists, scholars, and leaders who credit YAT for their academic and career achievements. In 2025, we celebrated our 50th anniversary with a milestone gala hosted by alum Tony Hale, raising $290,000 to secure our future. We remain committed to providing accessible arts education, offering scholarships and inclusive programs that reflect our belief that theatre skills are life skills. Through partnerships with institutions like Florida State University, we continue to shape young minds and inspire future innovators.
