Both formats emphasize spiritual connection through music, prayer, and community. Our services include monthly Communion Sundays and special holiday celebrations that honor our 185-year heritage while remaining relevant to modern worshippers.
Community Outreach
Our congregation actively supports local missions through volunteer programs, food bank partnerships, and Vacation Bible Schools. We collaborate with other United Methodist communities to maximize our impact through shared resources and coordinated efforts. These initiatives reflect our commitment to practical Christianity and serving Salem's diverse population through both spiritual and material support.
Educational Programs
We provide lifelong learning opportunities including Sunday School, Advent and Lent study groups, and workshops with guest speakers. Our historical significance as Oregon's first Methodist church informs educational programs that combine theological instruction with our rich heritage. These programs cater to all age groups, from youth ministries to adult education classes focused on spiritual growth.
Music Ministries
Our music program features both traditional and contemporary elements, including the historic Findley organ and modern MICAH Worship band. We offer choral groups for adults and youth, special musical performances, and carillon bell concerts. The music ministries aim to enhance worship experiences through diverse musical expressions that appeal to different generations.
