Trusted AMI-Recognized Montessori Education in Pasadena
Founded in 1996, the International Montessori has served as a beacon of excellence in early childhood education for preschoolers aged 2-6 in the greater Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley regions. As one of only a handful of AMI-recognized Montessori schools in the area, we maintain the highest standards of educational integrity, with all lead teachers and classroom materials certified by the Association Montessori International. Our dedicated team, averaging 17 years of tenure, creates a nurturing environment where children develop independence, cultural awareness, and a lifelong love of learning. The curriculum integrates core Montessori principles with enrichment activities in language, music, and yoga, while our shaded campus near Old Pasadena features purpose-built classrooms and outdoor spaces designed for holistic development.

With a focus on multi-age classrooms that foster peer mentorship and social growth, we prepare children for seamless transitions to both Montessori and traditional elementary programs. Our commitment to transparency, safety, and community engagement has earned us consistent recognition from families seeking authentic Montessori education. Through rigorous adherence to Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy, we cultivate self-confidence and intellectual curiosity in every child, ensuring they develop the foundational skills necessary for future academic and personal success.

Services
Montessori Preschool
Our AMI-certified Montessori program for children aged 2-6 follows Dr. Maria Montessori's principles through specialized materials and multi-age classrooms. The curriculum develops independence, concentration, and academic readiness while fostering social-emotional growth. Children learn through hands-on exploration in practical life, sensorial, language, and math activities.
Toddler Program
Designed for 2-3 year olds, this program focuses on physical development, toilet learning, and emotional regulation through psycho-sensory aids and practical life activities. The structured environment helps toddlers build coordination, independence, and social skills while preparing them for the Primary classroom transition.
After-School Enrichment
Our Extended Day program offers Spanish, Mandarin, yoga, and music classes included in tuition. Children engage with open-ended materials during extended hours while following Montessori principles of order, care, and responsibility in both indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
Language Immersion
Weekly Spanish and Mandarin classes supplement our English-instructed curriculum. Staff members with language expertise engage children informally during daily activities, creating a natural bilingual environment that enhances cultural awareness and communication skills.
Transition Support
We provide referrals to local Montessori primary programs and guidance for transitioning to traditional elementary schools. Graduates consistently demonstrate advanced academic and socio-emotional readiness, typically entering first-grade level programs with strong adaptation skills.
