Welcome to St Peter & Paul Russian Church
Founded in 1916 by Russian immigrants in Elizabeth, New Jersey, our church has served as a spiritual cornerstone for four generations. We transitioned from temporary worship spaces to a permanent home in 1967, continually adapting to meet the needs of both immigrant and native-born Orthodox communities. Our parish combines rich traditions with modern outreach through Sunday School programs, a dedicated choir, and community-building initiatives like the Pierogi Project. We maintain strong ties to our heritage while welcoming all seeking spiritual growth. Our clergy, including the late Archpriest Emil Minkovich and current Acting Rector Father Julian Ryabtsev, have fostered community through pastoral care and innovative programs.

We offer regular Divine Liturgies, seasonal celebrations, and educational opportunities for all ages. Our facilities include spaces for worship, fellowship, and administrative operations. We remain committed to preserving Orthodox traditions while engaging with contemporary spiritual needs. The church's Silver Anniversary celebration honored decades of dedicated service to the community. Today, we continue to evolve while maintaining our founding mission of faith, community, and tradition.

Services
Divine Liturgy
Our primary worship service follows traditional Russian Orthodox practices with Eucharistic celebration. Services include scripture readings, hymns, and sacraments conducted in both Church Slavonic and English. The liturgy provides spiritual nourishment through its structured order of prayers and rituals.
Sunday School
We offer religious education programs for children and youth through our Sunday School. Classes teach Orthodox doctrine, scripture, and church traditions in age-appropriate formats. The program combines formal instruction with hands-on learning experiences and family participation.
Pastoral Care
Our clergy provide individual spiritual counseling and home visitations for parishioners. This includes pre-marital counseling, hospital visits, and support during life transitions. The clergy maintain regular availability for personal consultations and prayerful guidance.
Choir Services
Our church choir enhances worship through traditional Orthodox choral music. Members practice regularly to maintain proper liturgical singing techniques. The choir participates in all major feast days and special services throughout the church calendar year.
Community Events
We organize seasonal picnics, post-service gatherings, and feast day celebrations. These events foster community connections through shared meals, educational programs, and cultural preservation activities. Special events align with important dates in the Orthodox liturgical calendar.
