Derwood Root
Founder
Founded Dagwood Tavern & Grill in 1947 after purchasing the former Nim's tavern. Introduced the signature burger recipe and established the restaurant's enduring traditions. Managed the business until selling in 1987, creating a lasting legacy in Lansing's dining scene.
Randy Farlin
Current Owner
Took ownership in 2017 after managing the bar for over 20 years. Preserves original recipes and traditions while maintaining the historic building. Focuses on continuing Dagwood Tavern & Grill' role as a community gathering place and Michigan State University tradition.
