Aikido & Iaido Training in Cambridge, MA
Founded in 1966 by Mitsunari Kanai Shihan, New England Aikikai stands as a premier martial arts center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As one of the last direct students of Aikido's founder Morihei Ueshiba, Kanai Sensei established this dojo to preserve the authentic teachings of Aikido and Iaido. With over five decades of operation, we continue his legacy through rigorous technical training and philosophical instruction. Our Chief Instructor Sharon Kanai, a 6th Dan Shidoin certified by the United States Aikido Federation, leads a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of practice. We offer structured programs for all ages and skill levels, emphasizing non-violence, character development, and physical conditioning.

Our curriculum includes specialized children's classes, weapons training with bokken and jo, and traditional Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido instruction. The dojo's philosophy centers on harmonizing martial arts practice with personal growth, reflecting Aikido's core principle of 'the way of harmony with the universe.' Through regular seminars and community engagement, we foster a supportive environment for students to develop technical proficiency and spiritual awareness. Our commitment to quality instruction has made us a cornerstone of martial arts education in the Boston area.
