Explore America's Rail History
Since 1956, the National Railroad Museum has preserved and celebrated America's railroad heritage through its world-class collection of over 70 historic train cars and 150,000 artifacts. Our mission combines preservation with education, offering immersive programs aligned with Wisconsin State Academic Standards for more than 100,000 annual visitors. With 78,000 square feet of exhibit space, we provide hands-on learning experiences that connect railroad history to STEM education and cultural development.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers maintain climate-controlled environments for artifact preservation while operating seasonal train rides and special events. The ongoing Fox River Expansion project will double our educational facilities, adding ADA-compliant spaces and technology-enhanced exhibits to better serve our growing community. As a privately funded 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on donations and partnerships to sustain our operations and expand our impact on regional economic growth.
