Explore Arab American History & Culture in Dearborn, MI
Founded in 2005, the Arab American National Museum (AANM) is the first and only institution in the United States dedicated to documenting and sharing the Arab American experience. Located in Dearborn, Michigan, home to the largest concentration of Arab Americans in the nation, we preserve and present the history, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans through exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement. Our core galleries explore the Arab world and the journey of Arab immigrants from the late 19th century to the present, while temporary exhibitions showcase contemporary art and cultural narratives. As a Smithsonian Affiliate and American Alliance of Museums-accredited institution, we provide safe spaces for dialogue, cultural exchange, and learning.

Our team collaborates with artists, educators, and community leaders to uplift diverse voices and foster understanding. The museum houses one of the most extensive archives of Arab American historical documents, oral histories, and artifacts, including the nations only dedicated collection of Arab American art. Through partnerships like the National Performance Network and CultureSource, we amplify our impact locally and nationally. The Annex @ AANM, opened in 2015, reflects our growing role as a community hub. We are committed to anti-oppression principles and acknowledge the Anishinaabe land on which we reside. With free admission during Arab American Heritage Month, we strive to make our programs accessible to all.
