Welcome to First Evangelical Lutheran Chr
First Evangelical Lutheran Chr has served the Brockton, Massachusetts community since 1867, established by Swedish immigrants as the first Scandinavian-founded religious institution in New England. Our historic sanctuary, designed by architect Charles Coveney, features English Antique stained glass and a Schantz organ rebuilt in 2009. We merged with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in 2022 to strengthen our worship, Christian education, and outreach. Our Gospel-centered community welcomes all within a 35-mile radius of Brockton, offering Sunday worship at 9:00 AM both in-person and via Facebook Live.We provide pastoral counseling, children's programs including a faith-based preschool since 1982, and support groups like our Sunshine Committee and Martha Guild. Our clergy, including Pastor Jeffrey Johnson since 2015, emphasize spiritual exploration and community support through life's challenges. We host multiple worship communities and twelve-step meetings weekly, maintaining office hours Tuesday-Thursday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM and Friday 9:00 AM-Noon.
