Welcome to St George Greek Orthodox Comm
St George Greek Orthodox Comm has served the spiritual and cultural needs of the Greek-American community in Lynn, Massachusetts since its founding in 1905. Established by pioneering Greek immigrants, the church was created to preserve Orthodox faith and Hellenic heritage while fostering community growth. Over a century later, it remains a cornerstone of religious life, offering worship services, educational programs, and cultural initiatives. The parish built its first permanent home in 1905 and completed its current Byzantine-style edifice in 1954, which was consecrated in 1978. Under decades of dedicated leadership, including the 48-year ministry of Rev.Archmandrite Christopher Argyrides, the church has expanded its outreach through Greek language instruction, youth programs, and community events like the annual Grecian Festival. The church transitioned to a modern Byzantine aesthetic in the 1990s under Rev. George D. Tsoukalas, adding contemporary facilities while maintaining traditional worship practices. Today, it continues to serve as both a spiritual home and cultural hub, offering sacraments, stewardship opportunities, and intergenerational programs that connect parishioners to their heritage and faith.
