Alhambra Library

The Alhambra Library serves as a cornerstone of learning and community engagement, welcoming over 500,000 visitors annually. Our mission is to provide equitable access to educational resources, dynamic programming, and life enrichment materials tailored to all ages. The 45,000-square-foot facility, opened in 2008, houses over 200,000 items in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity. The First Floor features dedicated spaces for children, teens, and adults, while the Second Floor offers non-fiction collections, study rooms, and the Friends Book Store. Our Tales of Alhambra Mobile Library, launched in 2021, extends services to parks, schools, and community hubs, enabling residents to access materials and programs beyond our physical walls.

Governed by a Board of Library Trustees appointed by the City Council, we uphold policies designed to ensure a welcoming environment for all. From digital resources and Chromebook checkouts to multilingual collections and cultural events, we strive to meet the evolving needs of Alhambras diverse population. Our staff prioritizes personalized assistance, whether through research support, literacy programs, or technology training. With extended weekday hours and weekend availability, we remain dedicated to fostering lifelong learning and community connection. As a trusted municipal service, we continuously adapt to bridge educational gaps and empower individuals through knowledge and opportunity.
