Business Details
We founded the Northwest Independent Baseball League in 2007 with just four local teams, and have spent nearly two decades building it into the Portland, Oregon metro areas premier adult baseball organization. Our league now hosts 26 teams across multiple divisions for the 2025 season, with nearly 300 scheduled regular season and playoff games played across the regions top baseball facilities. We prioritize authentic, traditional baseball gameplay, requiring wood bats, pine tar, proper helmets, cleats, catchers gear, and certified umpires for all matches to honor the sports core standards. Our operations are built on inclusivity, welcoming adult players of all skill levels from complete beginners to former competitive players, as long as they demonstrate respect for fellow league members. We structure our season schedule to accommodate adult lifestyles, avoiding game dates on major holiday weekends including Mothers Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Our league management teams work with each teams manager to build rosters that account for common absences related to family trips, vacations, and other personal commitments.
We host free public tryouts each year where attending players can showcase their skills to team representatives looking to fill positional needs across all divisions. For players who are not drafted at tryouts, we actively work to place them on existing teams or form new rosters to ensure anyone who wants to play can participate. We also support players who wish to start entirely new teams, providing guidance and administrative support to walk new team organizers through the full league onboarding process. Our 2026 season expansion includes new teams and additional game locations to serve even more adult baseball enthusiasts across the Portland metro area. We maintain transparent cost structures, with league fees collected directly by team managers who handle individual player payments for jerseys, hats, and league dues. We are committed to fostering a welcoming, low-drama community for adult baseball fans across the region, and we actively seek input from players on future league expansions like potential 45+ and 55+ divisions.
