Fenger Academy
Fenger Academy has served the Chicago community since 1927, offering a comprehensive educational experience rooted in academic excellence and community engagement. Named after Dr. Christian Fenger, a pioneering Chicago surgeon and educator, the school occupies a historic campus built to accommodate 2,200 students but now serves nearly 3,000. Our facilities include 33 classrooms, 5 science labs, 7 vocational labs, a 1,740-seat auditorium, two gymnasiums, a swimming pool, and dedicated spaces for athletics and student support. With a legacy of fostering student leadership through clubs, organizations, and cultural events, we emphasize both academic achievement and holistic development. Our structured bell schedule ensures focused learning periods, while extracurricular programs like the Black History Month field trip and athletic competitions enrich student experiences. As part of Chicago Public Schools, we maintain rigorous academic standards and provide resources such as IT help desks, facilities support, and online learning tools. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in annual events like the Quarter 2 Awards Assembly and initiatives promoting school spirit, such as the Holiday Door Decorating Contest.
