Our mission focuses on cultivating sustainable audiences, mentoring youth through initiatives like Play Dates and Youth Theatre Scholarships, and fostering collaboration among local arts groups. We actively promote diversity, economic growth through theater, and best practices in stagecraft education.As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we connect residents and visitors with Albuquerque's vibrant live theater scene while supporting playwright development and recognizing artistic excellence through the Orley Awards. Youth Mentorship
Our Youth Theatre Scholarship Program and Play Dates initiative nurture emerging performers through hands-on learning experiences. We connect young artists with professional mentors while providing performance opportunities that build confidence and technical skills. This program has supported over 200 students annually since its inception.
Playwright Development
Monthly Playwrights Circle meetings offer script readings and critiques by industry professionals. Participants receive constructive feedback to refine their craft while actors gain practice through staged readings. The program includes both in-person sessions at The Box performance space and virtual participation options.
Orley Awards
Annual awards recognizing excellence in local theater productions through impartial judging by 21-member panels. The program includes 44+ eligible productions annually, with rigorous evaluation criteria covering acting, direction, and technical elements to celebrate artistic achievement.
