Empowering Children and Families Through Trauma-Informed Care
Childserv was founded in 1894 with a mission to build better lives for children and families impacted by poverty, violence, and injustice. Our trauma-informed approach, rooted in the Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) framework, addresses the psychological, emotional, and social needs of youth aged 0-24. For over 125 years, we have served communities in Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Lake counties through early childhood education, safe housing, and counseling programs. Our PEP, HIPPY, and FCCH initiatives empower parents to prepare children for school success, while Emerge, Foster Care, and Group Homes programs provide stable living environments for vulnerable youth. Our Becoming Me, Camp Sheilah, and Counseling Solutions programs foster healing and resilience through evidence-based therapeutic support. We prioritize community partnerships, volunteer engagement, and donor contributions to amplify our impact. With seven regional offices, we deliver localized services tailored to the specific needs of each community we serve. Our team of dedicated professionals combines decades of experience in child welfare, education, and mental health to create lasting change. We measure success through client outcomes, including academic achievement, housing stability, and emotional well-being. Committed to transparency and accountability, we publish annual reports detailing our programs' effectiveness and financial stewardship. By addressing systemic inequities and providing comprehensive support, we help young people overcome trauma and achieve self-sufficiency.

Emerge, Foster Care, and Group Homes programs provide stable living environments for youth experiencing homelessness or family instability. Our housing solutions include life skills training, educational support, and transitional services for ages 12-24. We help young people achieve independence through structured living environments and personalized case management.
Trauma-Informed Counseling
Becoming Me, Camp Sheilah, and Counseling Solutions programs address trauma through evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Our clinicians specialize in treating abuse-related trauma, behavioral challenges, and emotional distress. Services include individual therapy, group sessions, and family counseling to promote healing and resilience.
Foster Care Programs
Our Foster Care initiative places children in safe, nurturing homes while providing comprehensive support to foster families. We offer training, 24/7 crisis support, and therapeutic resources to help children heal from trauma. The program focuses on permanency planning and family reunification when possible.
