Derek Mueller Portraits: Classical Realism Artworks & Commissions
Derek Mueller Portraits represents the artistic legacy and creative vision of Derek Mueller, a classical realist painter with deep roots in art history. Born in 1958 to an artistic family, Derek was immersed in a world of ancestral paintings and art books from an early age, profoundly influenced by his great grandfather Eduardo Ceruttis mastery of presidential portraiture. Relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1964, Derek cultivated his passion for drawing and emulating works by masters like Norman Rockwell, whose techniques he studied extensively through books and exhibitions. Over 25 years as a commercial illustrator, Derek honed his craft, notably designing the iconic California Raisins characters, which earned a Clio Award in 1987. Since 2010, Derek has dedicated himself exclusively to fine art, creating still lifes, landscapes, and figural works that reflect his reverence for classical realism and the Golden Age of Illustration. His studio offers original paintings, commissioned artworks, and portraits, each piece embodying a commitment to beauty and academic excellence. With an extensive collection of art books and experience lecturing on Norman Rockwells techniques, Derek combines historical knowledge with contemporary practice. The studio provides opportunities for collectors to acquire original works or prints, with sold pieces clearly indicated in the portfolio.
