Celebrating Jazz in Colorado Springs
Founded in 1985, the Olympian Plaza Reception has been a cornerstone of jazz preservation and promotion in the Colorado Springs region. Our organization is dedicated to fostering jazz through live performances, educational initiatives, and community engagement. We host monthly Second Sunday Jazz Affairs featuring local and national talent, providing both listening and dance opportunities. Our mentorship programs connect professional musicians with students, offering clinics and performance experiences to nurture emerging talent. The society publishes Pike Peak Jass Notes and PPJASS eNotes to keep members informed about jazz events and local scene updates. Special events regularly showcase acclaimed artists, while our Alice Award honors exceptional contributions to jazz. Through free educational programs funded by member donations, we support school jazz bands and vocalists, ensuring jazz thrives for future generations. Our mission extends beyond performances to creating a vibrant social environment for jazz enthusiasts.
