Drake Cooper was established in 1978 by Bill Drake, under the name of W. R. Drake & Company. Within two years, it became one of Idaho's leading advertising agencies. In 1981, with the addition of such accounts as McDonald's, Idaho Bank & Trust, the Idaho Travel Council and the Idaho Beef Council, it became Idaho's biggest agency. In 1987, W. R. Drake & Company merged with the biggest privately held agency in Seattle to form Elgin Syferd Drake.
