Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles through the skin. The needless are inserted at varying depths at specific acupuncture points along meridians on the body. The meridians are like channels that feed and connect every part of the body. The goal of inserting needles at these strategic points is to balance the energy or Qi (pronounced Chee) of the body. It is from imbalance that disease arises. Acupuncture seeks to deliver the body back into balance.
