The American Bank of Commerce 1st opened for business as Wolfforth State Bank on September 11, 1962 with James S. Moore as Chairman of the Board. By the end of business on December 31, 1962, assets had reached $961, 000. In the fall of 1995, the bank started plans to open a central Texas branch facility in Austin, Texas in early 1996. At the end of business in 1995 total assets had reached $190 million and cash deposits in excess of $174 million.
