Assistance League of Santa Barbara is the tenth of 117 chapters of National Assistance League, the 1st nonprofit, nonsectarian organization begun in the West to aid those less fortunate. Our local story started in 1947 when a group of women joined together to form the Assistance League of Santa Barbara. Meetings were 1st held at members homes and then at the Montecito Country Club. In 1952, the chapter rented a tiny house on Anacapa St. Where the women sold a range of goods, from homemade items, clothing and jewelry to furniture and baked goods.

Las Aletas
read moreLas Aletas, or "the Little Wings", was formed in 1964 as an Auxiliary of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara. Members of Las Aletas volunteer their time and talents to serve the greater Santa Barbara community. Serving the Santa Barbara community since 1989, Kids on the Block explores a wide range of important social issues through puppet presentations to school aged children. Las Aletas volunteers, using 3-foot-tall puppets, perform at local preschool and elementary schools using carefully developed scripts to educate and engage young audiences.
