Austin Career Education Center opened its doors in September 1977 to women and men who left high school before graduation. They realized their need for the best school diploma and all of the opportunities that graduation supplies. More than 16, 000 students have enrolled in classes at the Center to date. During the 2006 - 2007 school year, diplomas were awarded to 160 young women and men. More than 60% of those students are now enrolled in college or vocational training. The school supplies a student-centered curriculum, career counselor, special education support, and dedicated team of teachers that work with students to achieve success.

For our students we seek to create a contributing member of society who understands his or her role in the community at-large and how to be successful in it. After being presented with a wide variety of experiences and opportunities, each student is able to self-evaluate his or her own statement of realistic goals and has the tools and ability to achieve those goals.
