About Us
read moreAzimuth Surveying was founded by Bill Shull in 1972. Over the years, Mr. Shull developed a strong reputation for quality surveys done to exacting standards. Jim Hepler took over operations in 2000, and continues the tradition of uncompromising quality. Azimuth currently employs four people, who have a breadth of experience and knowledge in surveying. We use a combination of equipment for the job, including state-of-the art robotic total stations and GPS, as well as more conventional equipment such as compass & tape.

The deed determines what you own; we will examine your deed, as well as deeds of neighbouring properties, for conflicting calls, and resolve them in a equitable way. Usually, a survey has already been done nearby, giving evidence of the location of the boundary. We will check the County Surveyor's office for any and all records of previous surveys done in your area, and use the records in our determination.

If both of you desire to change it, this can be done through a Property Line Adjustment. You will need to get planning approval from either the city or county (if you live rurally) planning department before we can proceed with the survey. If the properties are larger than 10 acres and outside the Urban Growth Boundary, a survey is optional in most areas. However, a plat is required in all cases.

These require prior approval from the appropriate city or county Planning Department. Once you obtain the conditions of approval, we will follow them in our survey. This type of survey will include a boundary survey of the land, setting monuments at new parcel corners, replacement of existing corners if necessary, recording of the plat with the County Surveyor, and copies of the plat for the client.

Elevation Certificates are a special type of survey that relates the elevation of a structure to potential flood levels. Title Insurance companies often have a list of exceptions to their title coverage, one of which is 'matters that would be disclosed by a survey'. ALTA/ACSM land title surveys will remove this exception to title insurance coverage, giving peace of mind to buyers, especially when large and valuable tracts of land are invovled.

Please call our office to find out. We give free estimates on all jobs; the estimated cost will not be exceeded. However, for an accurate estimate, we need a copy of the deed of the property to be surveyed, a county Tax Lot number, or a Lot & Block number from the subdivision, if applicable. We will conduct the research necessary to appraise the difficulty of surveying in the area, and arrive at a cost.
