Badmitton Club Of
Sporting Club in Washington, DC
The Badminton Club of the District of Columbia is one of the oldest badminton clubs in the country. Records show that it was began as early as 1947. Clay Norment, president of the club in the early 1970s, is credited with elevating the club to its biggest membership with more than 100 active members. The club was playing at the gym at St. Albans School in Northwest Washington at the time. The Badminton Club of DC continues to play in the same facility, which is on the grounds of an English Gothic-style cathedral on the highest point in Washington, DC, the pretty Washington National Cathedral.
