Since it's establishment in 1974 Belmont Shore has been one of the premier Rugby Football Clubs in America, the tradition carried on again this year with the winning of the 2009 Sevens National Championship and a trip the the Super League semi-finals. Belmont Shore RFC is the type of excellence at all stages of American Rugby competition sending teams to the 2009 league finals in both U-16 and U-14 divisions. As one of the original US Rugby Super League teams in 1997, the staff has been consistently the league front-runner, which includes competing in nine of the thirteen championship games.
