Imperial Plastics became Berry Plastics when it was purchased in 1983 by Jack Berry, Sr. A Florida-based citrus grower and real estate developer. In 1987, Berry opened a 2nd manufacturing facility in Henderson, Nevada. Gilbert Plastics of New Brunswick, New Jersey, a manufacturer of aerosol overcaps, was Berry's 1st acquisition in 1988. Berry has grown through acquisitions and organic growth. Through the 1990s and up to today, Berry has acquired the following firms.
