About Us
read moreFounded in 1987, BlazeTech is an engineering consulting firm providing contract R&D services to both industry and the government. We are motivated to solve complex problems involving extremely hazardous materials and scenarios for which text-book solutions are not available. Our mission is to apply science and engineering know-how for the development of timely and cost-effective solutions to such niche problems. We have developed novel hardware and software solutions depending on the problem and the client needs.

Our capabilities in the hypersonic flow area span some five decades with demonstrated analyses and modelling expertise for most aspects of high-speed vehicles including the shock layer, the boundary layer and the wake. The aerothermodynamic heating activities have included free-molecular flow in low earth orbit, transitional flows that bridge the rarefiedcontinuum regimes at high altitudes, and the continuum flows at the lower altitudes.

Their interest was in the report's implications to the TWA Flight 800 disaster. Dr. Albert Moussa of BlazeTech participated in the plenary panel of the conference. As chairman of the 2009 ASME/AME Percy Nichols Award Committee, Dr. Moussa gives the Percy Nichols Award to Dr. Geo Richards, Focus Area Leader of the Energy System Dynamics in the National Energy Technology Laboratory, DOE.

BlazeTech developed ADORA, a premier software in Off Site Consequence Analysis. This software is available for license or as a service. It has been used by leading environmental service companies, chemical process industries and government agencies. NASA selects Blazetech as 1 of 10 companies to advance technologies in space resource collection.

read moreWe have worked with several DOD agencies on projects involving munitions research, reactive materials and obtained environmental clearances to perform large scale tests and disposal of energetic waste. Our work over the years focused on the development of models for prediction of munitions cook-off, impact induced ignition of reactive materials, and emissions from munition and energetic waste. We developed an engineering model for the Slow Cook-Off (SCO) of explosive materials exposed to heat. We applied this model to a relatively insensitive munition composition, namely PBXN-109.

The model also tracks the combustion front propagation in the material with time and concomitant pressure buildup and casing deformation. We validated this model using data from small scale slow cookoff tests (Navy's pipe bomb and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories' STEX setup) and full scale tests (Navy's Heavy Wall Penetrator and 500 lb GP bomb), all for an RDX based relatively plastic bonded explosive formulation called PBXN-109.

We have also assisted them with preparedness (including vulnerability assessment) and environmental clearances to perform large scale tests and disposal of energetic waste. Our work over the years focused on development and testing; Consequence analysis of military attacks on various targets (both with conventional weapons and emerging technologies such as High Energy Lasers and Reactive Material Payloads).
