Bull Shirts was set up in Houston back in 1980 by two Northern transplants from Buffalo, New York. Co-founders Joe Dotterwiech and Jake O' Conner started with a hundred dollars in their pocket and a dream. The initial site for the firm was Joes' one bedroom apartment. On more than once occasion, the fire department was called to investigate the smoke from the tiny heat transfer press used in those days. Both men had full time jobs. Jake was an artist by night and an Ironworker by day.
