Cambridge Nursery School
read moreTucked away in a recently renovated building in a quiet residential neighborhood, CNS provides a warm and playful atmosphere for learning for children aged 2 years and 9 months through 5 years. As a parent cooperative, we have a strong community that benefits not only your child, but your entire family as well. At Cambridge Nursery School, we believe that children learn much of what they need to know through play; their play is their work. We offer a dynamic, enriching play-based program that celebrates and challenges each child, and fosters their curiosity, self-confidence and a love for discovery.
About Us
read moreTeachers provide a daily routine that affords the children the opportunity to investigate many materials, both independently and in teacher-directed projects. The morning begins with an extended period of free play that includes opportunities for children to explore independently or work in small groups. Activities include water or sand play, dramatic play, outdoor play, art/science projects, manipulatives, and large blocks. As the morning progresses, each group has a whole-group meeting, snack, and story time.
Cooperative
read moreA parent cooperative is a school that is owned by the families. Parents play an important role in helping to support and manage the program. A cooperative is unlike a standard preschool or daycare setting because it incorporates and benefits the whole family; parents are part of a community of many first-time parents and are able both to support other parents and feel supported and involved in their child's first school experience. When your child attends Cambridge Nursery School, your family gains a community of supportive parents and professionals.
Enrollment
read moreWe strongly encourage interested families to visit our school. We schedule an Open House each fall, giving families the opportunity to visit the school with their children. Alternatively, or in addition, you can schedule a tour of the school to observe a school day in progress and meet with the Director. While children are welcome at the Open House, we suggest they not accompany parents on tours during school hours; we cannot provide childcare during a tour, and parents may find it easier to focus on the tour if they are not also attending to their child's needs at the same time.
